Chamber Minute – July 2025
Our Business is Helping Your Business
Earlier this month, Governor Tina Kotek directed the Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development (DLCD) to pause its proposed farm stand and agritourism rulemaking following strong pushback from rural communities and small farms!
The Bay Area Chamber was fully prepared to respond. We had begun organizing a coalition of local farms and agritourism businesses to submit unified opposition, recognizing that the proposed rules could have placed unnecessary burdens on rural entrepreneurs and family farms.
Our plan included:
- Convening affected businesses for a coordinated response.
- Hosting a local information session with county planners.
- Drafting joint letters and public comment templates.
- Connecting with state legislators who shared our concerns.
While the rulemaking is on hold for now, we will continue monitoring developments and stand ready to re-engage if needed. This pause shows the power of early, organized advocacy—and underscores the Chamber’s role as a voice for business.
