For the first time, the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce Education and Workforce Committee will be awarding three local students with scholarships to further their education. As Chair of the committee, I am very excited about. What an honor it is as a community to give back to our youth and help them further their education! Whether it be going to a community college, university, or vocational trades school, all are great choices for students who are driven and looking to get ahead in their careers.
For the next two months, we will be holding two fundraisers. Our targeted goal is to raise $1,500 during this time. This will allow us to award $500 each to three lucky recipients: one student from North Bend High School, one from Marshfield High School, and one from Southwestern Oregon Community College. Students will be selected based on their outstanding leadership roles, service in their school and the community, academic ability, and character. These awards will be presented on January 23, 2021 during the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet at the Mill Casino.
Today begins the first day of fundraiser number one. We will be selling 150 tickets at $10 each until Dec. 18th. On Dec. 21st we will draw one lucky winner at 10am LIVE on Facebook to win $500. The drawing will take place at the BACC office. You do not have to be on FB to win. We will contact you. The remaining proceeds will go directly towards the student scholarship fund. If you would like to purchase a ticket, please contact Stacy Gulseth by emailing email@example.com or call 541-269-6652 or 541-404-3439 or the BACC office 541-266-0868. Your support and generosity are appreciated.
