    Make Your Next Grant Proposal a Success: A grant writing workshop series hosted by Coos county is being offered to all area nonprofit organizations in Winter 2018. The workshop series is designed to help beginning and intermediate grant writers working in nonprofit organizations or governmental entities increase their skills at developing project proposals and successfully planning, writing and attaining grant funding.
    Organizations are encouraged to bring more than one board member, staff, or volunteer from each organization. The cost for the series (including lunches) is $95 per person. Early registration is encouraged; the series will be limited to 45 participants.
    Series Schedule: The four part series will be held on Thursdays from 10:00-3:00 pm (lunch included) at the Mill Casino in the Willow-Beargrass room; 3201 Tremont Avenue, North Bend, OR 97459. The schedule for the series will be as follows:
    Session 1: Feb. 8 "Positioning Your Organization to be Grant Smart)
    Feb. 22 "Grant Writing and Grant Review"

    South Coast Folk Society will hold its monthly First Saturday Contra Dance. No partner is needed to enjoy contra dancing, a traditional American style of social dancing to lively music. A beginner's lesson at 7:00pm will teach you everything you need to know. Alcohol-and fragrance-free event. All ages are welcome. rainy and the Rattlesnakes, a father/daughter band from Ashland will play and Roseburg caller Woody Lane will each every dance. Admission is $7 general, $6 student/senior, and $5 for South Coast Folk Society members.

    Don't miss Oregon's largest Fireworks Display on the July 3. The Mill Casino will light up the skies over North Bend and the Coos Bay shoreline, with their annual waterfront fireworks display. Guests are invited to enjoy the 10:00pm fireworks show for free in the non-reserved seating area located along the boardwalk. An outdoor grill, beverage station and beer garden will be available at the north side of the casino from 6:00-10:00pm while free non-stop shuttle service will be available from the south end of Pony Village Mall (next to the Macy's and cinema) to the casino from 7:00pm until midnight.
