OHSU Partnerships

Bay Area Hospital extends its outstanding care by partnering with Oregon Health & Science University on several exciting initiatives:

Telemedicine – Two-way digital video communication lets BAH doctors access OHSU’s specialized expertise in stroke care and pediatric critical care.

Surgical residency — Highly qualified surgical residents from OHSU gain practical experience working alongside Bay Area Hospital’s board-certified general surgeons.

Serving the Community

Bay Area Hospital is owned by Bay Area Health District and is governed by an elected board of directors. It is Oregon’s only district-owned hospital operating without local tax support. The hospital has more than 130 physicians on its medical staff, 1,000 employees, and 100 volunteers.  Its 144-bed capacity includes 124 private rooms.

In addition to providing excellent inpatient and outpatient care, Bay Area Hospital is a pivotal participant in broad-based community health initiatives.  The hospital sponsors free classes aimed at improving individuals’ lifestyle choices and health outcomes. Free screenings encourage early diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions.  The hospital manages the Kids’ Hope Center, caring for the needs of abused children. The Bay Area Hospital Community Foundation accepts charitable donations and bequests, with which it supports healthcare programs as well as a variety of community organizations.

The Waterfall Clinic is a community health center for all . We are a safety-net clinic in North Bend / Coos Bay serving the people Coos, Curry and Douglas counties on the Southern Oregon Coast.

We accept patients with Medicare , Oregon Health Plan/Medicaid , Private Insurance and patients without health insurance . We have a sliding fee scale for patients without health insurance, which is based on family size and income. The Waterfall Community Health Center is a Patient Centered Medical Home . We are also an FTCA deemed facility.

REACH Air Medical Services is your local air ambulance provider based at the North Bend Airport.  We have both a helicopter and a fixed wing aircraft standing by 24/7 to transport patients with life or limb threatening emergencies to a higher level of care.  REACH has been in business for over 30 years providing the highest quality medical care within the industry. REACH Air Medical Service is one of the providers within the AirMedCare Network. We are the largest Air Ambulance Membership Network in the United States. All AirMedCare Network service providers work cooperatively to provide the highest levels of care for you, your family, and your community.  An AirMedCare Network membership automatically enrolls individuals in all provider membership programs giving them membership coverage in over 260 aircraft locations across 32 states. In the event members are flown by REACH or any AMCN provider for a life or limb-threatening emergency, they will have no out-of-pocket expense in connection with their flight.  An annual household membership is only $65.

 

AirMedCare Network also offers a Fly-U-Home program that gives members access to a fleet of medically equipped, private aircraft standing by 24 hours a day 7 days a week to fly them to the hospital of their choice within the vicinity of their home if they’re ever hospitalized as an impatient while traveling more than 150 miles from home across all contiguous 48 states – all for less than 42 cents per day.  Other benefits this program provides are a 24/7 medical services hotline which provides access to medical referrals, consultation and prescription assistance and in the unfortunate case that a member passes away while traveling AirMedCare will make all necessary arrangements, at no cost, to return the mortal remains to a funeral facility in the city of the members’ primary residence as requested by the family.  An annual household membership is only $149.
